This M1839 SNY Oval Lead-Filled Belt Plate was used by infantry soldiers until about 1861. The one piece oval belt plate is lead filled stamped sheet brass with the brass hooks on the back embedded in the lead. It has two prong hooks for attaching to the belt. The M1839 belt plate measures approximately 1 5/8 inches x 2 3/4 inches.
