US Officer Shell Summer Jacket M1841 |

The M1833- 1851 US Summer Shell Jacket was worn by US Enlisted Infantry, Artillery and Dragoon units during the Mexican-American War. This US Infantryman Shell Jacket is made from unbleached cotton canvas The jacket has small brass Mexican War "I"A"D" buttons. The button holes are HANDSTITCHED. The jacket has single-button functional cuffs, 2-buttons on each side of the standing collar, epaulettes, and 2 front pockets. The Summer coat has a muslin lining. There is one inside pocket. Enlisted Dragoons wore this jacket with 12 small buttons on the front. Artillery and Infantry enlisted men wore this same jacket with only 9 small buttons on the front. In 1846 Mounted Rifles were issued this jacket as well. The collar and epaulettes of the jacket are trimmed in tape. The Summer Uniform (Coat and Trousers) was authorized for use from May 1st through September 30th. Photos to come. Imported. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. Some sizes may be in stock.
