Invented by Anson Mills, an officer in the infantry regiment of the U.S. Army during the Plains Indian War, who later rose to the rank of Brigadier General, the Anson Mills Belt served as an improvement to the regulation cartridge belt by weaving the the whole belt into one piece without sewing. The belt became popular shortly after the Civil War in the late 1800's. The improved belt was adopted by the U.S. Army, but the quantities needed by the frontier army were low at that time. It wasn't until the conclusion of the Spanish-American war that Mills' factory expanded to be able to produce a thousand belts per day with additional orders also coming in from Canadian troops and the British government.
This 1881 Anson Mills belt is expandable from 32-inches up to 54-inches in length. The belt holds up to 50 rounds of .45-70 caliber. It is available in White Canvas.

Vintage Checkers and Game Field Storage bag
While the oldest known Checkers artifact unearthed in Iraq dates back to 3000 BC, the earliest known version of the game comes from a game called Alquerque, which was played in ancient Egypt in 1400 BC. After years of being played the Egyptian way, in 1100 AD, a Frenchman adapted it to be played on a Chessboard with 12 pieces per player.
Then, in 1756 an English mathematician created official rules for the game, and in 1840 was the start of the very first World Championships. Arthur Samuel then created a computerized Checkers program in 1952, which helped turn Checkers into the global phenomenon it is today.
Will include 24 game pieces and 1 storage bag. Field storage bag is large enough for you to store all your games in one place.

The Civil War Blakeslee Spencer Quick Loader Cartridge Box is designed for the Spencer Carbine. Because of the rapid speed that a Spencer carbine could be fired, a special box needed to be designed to hold cartridges for loading. Erasmus Blakeslee patented this box late in 1864. U.S. Government contracts for over 30,000 boxes were delivered to the War Department but few were used in the Civil War due to time delays of production and distribution.
This box contains 6 tin tubes encased in a bored wood block. The wood block is wrapped in smooth black bridle leather with a hinged leather lid to protect the open tops of the tin tubes from the elements. The box is worn over the shoulder on the left side. The leather shoulder strap attached to the box holds the device close to the trooper's left side. This arrangement allows the soldier to reach across with his right hand, flip open the 'Quickloader' box lid, draw out a single magazine tube filled with seven cartridges and insert the bullets into the stock of the Spencer weapon. The box has an implement pouch just like the originals, include the shoulder sling, and has a belt loop on the back.
Available for BOTH .44-40 ammunition OR .56-50 ammunition. The .44-40 will fit .45 Long Colt ammunition.
The box is available in black leather only and measures approximately 13 inches longs and 2 inches by 3 inches wide.

Circlet Rank Insignia
The regulation overcoat for officers was a dark blue while that for the enlisted men was light blue. This was no problem for the peacetime army, but in wartime it made targets of the officers. In 1861 officers were permitted to acquire mounted enlisted men's overcoats. Shoulder straps were not worn on overcoats and adding sleeve braid would be difficult in the field. Worn on the sleeve of the Sky Blue Great Coat just above the cuff. Circlets appear in the Schuyler, Hartley and Graham catalog and were worn by some officers to indicate their grade. Another example of an original can be seen in Don Troiani's Soldiers in America. Also examples of officers wearing them under there coat lapel has been noted.
The circlet reappears around 1867 in the Indian Wars on the Frontier though these also do not appear in the U.S. Army Regulations and photos show that they were worn on the sleeve of the Sky Blue Great Coat just above the cuff
